The 101 funders included in this directory represent the wealthiest that were set up over the course of 2021.

Overall, we saw wealth connected to these funders at around £32bn, double that we saw across 2020, and comparable to 2019 (where new grant makers were worth around £35bn). To put it into perspective, £32 billion is around the halfway mark of all countries in the world listed by Gross Domestic Product.

Of the 101 newly established trusts, many have significant wealth, including:
• 9 with billionaires
• 22 worth over £100 million

​2020 saw just 4 billionaires listed, so 2021 sees a significant growth (or return) of the wealth of new grant makers.
