The first Trust List of 2017 was typically slow (as is December), but there were nearly 25% more charities and new grant makers register than January 2016.
Of the 94 new grant makers 53 were included in this Trust List; the rest were left out because of their interest in a single cause (a local church, hospital, school and such). Of the 53 included here, almost a third were highlighted as we found additional information (both financial and non-financial) that would be of use to you in deciding an approach.
As always, the majority of funders focus on Relief, Education and Health, with a third being Generalists. The remaining funders have quite disparate interests, including the Armed Forces, several medical charities, music, support for the Palaly people of Sri Lanka and transparency within the extractive sector.
There is a new registration of a US foundation, which awards six and seven figure gifts for overseas projects. Other trusts of interest include a large corporate foundation and a slightly unusual entity which raises funds by holding events where prominent lawyers distinguish themselves by rocking out on stage.
