August was inevitably slow – it is every summer, but whilst it was down slightly on the year to date average, it had the greatest number of registrations of any August in the past five years (when this publication began).

Just over 100 new grant makers were established, with just over half (55) being included in this Trust List; those that were left out were specifically interested in a single cause (a local church, hospital, school and such) or were specifically interested in something that would exclude you as professional fundraisers.

Of the 55 included here, 36 (65%) were highlighted as we found additional information (both financial and non-financial) that would be of use to you in deciding an approach.

The majority of funders are focused on Relief, Education and Health, with a strong contingent of Generalists (almost a third).  The remaining funders have quite disparate interests, including the Armed Forces (support for children of the fallen, the Special Boat Service and veterans – including those in Ghana), fine arts in the Gulf, heritage in Belgravia and Ireland, and promoting diversity in Brighton.

There are some remarkable people involved in the latest grant makers, including several Royals (one worth a staggering $25 billion).

Others setting up eponymous foundations, worth in excess of £50,000,000; £36,000,000 and £53,000,000.
