July was another busy month for new charity registrations, with 570 set up against an average of 490. 76 new grant makers are included in this edition of the Trust List, well above the average of 65. Again, we see twice as many picked up through prospect research, with 42 of the 76 highlighted (against an average of 21.5).
As always, education, relief and health feature prominently. This month also saw new trusts interested in in a variety of different topics, from the conservation of the Great Crested newt in Wales to sanitation projects in Kenya and Uganda, young people with sensory impairment in London to the promotion of palaeontology, a host of medical conditions and the illumination of London’s bridges.
With so many grant makers highlighted, it is unsurprising there are several familiar names setting up new trusts. Several include Ultra High Net Worth Individuals, worth $5.8 billion; £650,000,000; £100,000,000; £50,000,000 and £30,000,000.
In addition, there is another Sainsbury family trust.
