This month saw the highest number of new funders since last June. 114 new grant makers were established (the average over the past 12 months is 99). 79 are included in the Trust List (against an average of 61) and a third were identified through prospect research.
As always, education, relief and health feature prominently. Again, medical support featured heavily with seven new grant makers. There was a rise in the number of generalists, with almost a third citing ‘general charitable objects’. Inevitably, many of those will wish they stated at least a preference for their charitable giving, as they are inundated with a variety of different funding requests.
There are a number of significantly wealthy new grant makers this month, including one being worth in excess of £162,000,000 and another with the settlor being worth £325,000,000.
There were also several house-hold name corporate foundations set up.
