February 2016 saw 108 new grant makers set up (the average is 110 per month).
As always, education, relief and health feature prominently. This month we also saw a spread of additional charities covering animal welfare, amateur sailing, support for several specific medical conditions and the promotion of ethical capitalism.
Several of the new grant makers have been set up by quite remarkable individuals. Three are worth well over £100m and one has four trustees, each of which are both very wealthy, but also well known in the world of philanthropy.
