Trust List December 2021
This edition continues the special Christmas bonus, with a significant uptick in the number of new grant makers registering. We saw 110 new grant makers register across the month, the second month in a row to top 100 and only the second time we have seen over 100 since November 2020. A cursory glance at the number of registrations thus far for January already shows 103 new grant makers, so perhaps we are returning to previous levels of registrations.
As always, along with the classic 'relief, education and health', we see several trusts interested in amateur sports, children, community causes, several medical charities, and even railways in Scunthorpe.
Several remarkable people established new grant makers this month, including: The Skipasund Foundation, whose Chair received almost £150m in untendered PPE contracts in the UK, the Sanghara family, head of Oxford Nanopore (which was valued at £4.4bn on its stock market debut last October), the Church family (of the shoes), worth around £20m, the Cayzer family, worth £959m, and the Brickability group, which made profits of £38m last year alone.
