Trust List August 2020
This edition sees a significant drop in the number of registrations, the lowest since April 2020 (when we went into full lockdown). The number of trusts in this edition is just 75, compared to an average of 98 over the past 12 months. Perhaps the drop in August reflects the relative freedom that came about over the summer, when people were able to get away for the first time in months.
As always, along with the classic 'relief, education and health', we see several trusts interested in Christian causes, conservation, community support, the arts, social inclusion and young people. In addition, there are 4 new medical grant makers covering cancer and other conditions (including the medicinal study of fungi) as well as 3 new Lions Clubs (good for local fundraising).
Several wealthy individuals were involved in setting up new grant makers this month, including a new grant maker associated with the philanthropist Wafic Saïd, worth over £2bn, Sir Philip Hulme (£260m) and others.
